The Government of Ecuador has reaffirmed its firm commitment to addressing climate change through the design and implementation of policies that address the issue from a national perspective and in accordance with the international guidelines that the phenomenon warrants.
We all know that Ecuador is a megadiverse country and that four worlds inhabit its territory : the marine coast, the Andean highlands, the
Amazon, and the Galapagos Islands. This is one of the reasons why, in the last decade, the Ecuadorian government has made a commitment to protecting our nature, a legacy for the world. Our Constitution is the first in human history to grant rights to nature and protect 20% of the national territory, represented by 52 reserves and natural parks. To fulfill these rights and safeguard biodiversity, the Ecuadorian State, through the Ministry of the Environment (MAE), is working to implement measures and execute projects focused on conservation to address phenomena such as climate change.
